This module explores theoretical approaches and practical problems in literary translation. The module aims to give students an improved critical understanding of the linguistic and cultural differences between English and German, to enhance their translation skills and provide insights into the ways in which literary texts work. In workshop sessions, the emphasis is placed on creativity in response to the specific issues encountered in translating poetry, drama and prose. Module convenors are Susan Beardmore and Ute Hirsekorn for academic year 22/23.
