From Lal Russell
This session will be a reflection on ‘A realist synthesis of pharmacist-conducted medication reviews in primary care after leaving hospital: what works for whom and why?’. Karen Luetsch will discuss how a team of three pharmacist researchers conducted a realist synthesis, meeting only virtually, decided on the topic, the process of reviewing the literature, loops and breakthroughs in establishing CMOs and programme theory, why some routes were taken and others not travelled.
The published synthesis is available from https://qualitysafety.bmj.com/content/30/5/418.info
Karen has a background in hospital
pharmacy as specialist pharmacist and manager. She has designed, managed and
delivered a wide range of educational initiatives to health professionals
across all health care settings. As a Senior Research Fellow at the University
of South Australia, Karen is currently planning a realist review and evaluation
of a major educational programme targeted at optimising the utilisation of bDMARDs in auto-immune diseases.
