So what’s in it the drippy, gooey magic stuff that makes a place a place,
What’s the marker, the measure, of a future there to take,
It’s the seed that’s watered in a child’s mind,
It’s the force of machines engineers designed,
The hand held out by a social enterprise,
It’s a mum feeding baby shame-free,
It’s the push behind the pen of an illustrator,
It’s the time given out by a volunteer trainer,
It’s the plans sketched down on blue checked paper,
It’s a patient on a pathway to health,
It’s the song that the city sings, the promise we’ve got,
It’s the trading of ideas, sharing our lot,
It’s the bridges we’ve built and the doors we’ve unlocked,
It’s the people, the universities together for Notts.
