Dr Simeon Zahl explores what are the distinctive characteristics of Protestant theology. In years gone by this would have been expressed as the proposition ‘it is acceptance of the doctrine of justification by faith alone.’ Now, he argues that it is better described as a ‘mood’ or ‘attitude’ that is suspicious of the idea that God in intrinsically tied in to the rituals or outward forms of the Christian religion.
